The Principal's Office

The Principal’s Office is made up of the Principal, the Deputy Principal, the Development Director, the Data Manager and the PA. While the Principal has specified duties, for which he is responsible to the Council, the Principal’s Office is organised to assist him in achieving his targets and goals.

The first and most significant duty is the leadership of the school, which entails the broad educational vision and strategies as well as oversight of the management of all the units within the school – the College, the Prep and the Pre-Prep. To this end, the Principal has the Bishops Executive committee which meets weekly and discusses matters of policy and strategy, as well as receiving reports from the schools where necessary. Apart from this, the Principal is also responsible for Communication, Marketing, Development, Fundraising and contact with the Old Diocesan Union and with old boys, and in this he is assisted by the Principal’s Office.

Central to these functions is the central data base which makes the flow of information possible between the school and the rest of the Bishops family. The Principal’s Office ensures the flow of regular and appropriate information to the family so that all can be kept informed of events (past and future) so that they can maintain their links with the school. Marketing is necessary for two purposes; to ensure that the school is full and that our various demographic and diversity targets are met, and secondly, to ensure that the school presents itself to the world in such a way as to make the achievement of our strategic goals possible. Development refers to the building and maintenance of relationships with a wide range of people and institutions so that we can embark on special projects called for by our strategic plans. These would include our relationships with the LEAP schools and with the developing interaction with the Royal Bafokeng Nation. The aims of our Fundraising ventures are the building up of an endowment which will provide the school with an income stream independent of fees in order that we can keep fee increases as low as possible. Finally, we need to keep a strong and mutually rewarded relationship with the Old Diocesan Union and with individual old boys in pursuit of our continued growth and development.
