Dear College Parents

The 4th term is a very short one, less than 8 weeks. Today is the last official day for our matrics who enjoyed a great sendoff with the Prize Giving and Valedictory this morning. They begin their final examinations next week on Thursday and we wish them well. The Grade 11 exams begin on Monday 7th November and the Grade 8s and 9s start on Monday 14th November. The Grade 10s have the Epic to look forward to, starting on Tuesday 15th November.

The current student unrest and shut-down of our universities is of major concern to all of us. This is a symptom of the deep social and leadership problems in our country. It is our hope that some resolution can be found so that the academic year can be completed and that the incoming students in 2017 can start their university career on time. Our thoughts are with all those parents and students who are directly affected by this most unfortunate situation.

Extra term initiative

Last year we launched the Extra Term Initiative and had an excellent response. If you are interested in getting involved in this fantastic initiative, please see the attached flyer.

Summer sports

We have a busy weekend to kick off the summer sports programme; a large contingent of rowers left today to participate in the Knysna Regatta, we have cricket fixtures against Paul Roos and water polo matches against SACS at home. Good luck to all our teams.

Assembly notices

Please read the assembly notices which are attached and reflect the excellent performances of our boys in such a wide range of activities. Yesterday was the last assembly for our matrics and they received their OD ties from the Executive Manager of the OD Union, WP van Zyl and OD, Michael Mynhardt.

Pupil leadership 2017 Congratulations to Christian Rohrer, who is the Head Boy of Bishops for 2017. The Deputy Head of Boarders is Bulelani Ngqukuvana and the Deputy Head Day Boys is Michael Burton. Please see the attached list of the pupil leadership for 2017, which was announced at Prize Giving today.

Yours sincerely
Guy Pearson
