Dear College Parents

"Every social trait labelled masculine or feminine is in truth a human trait. It is our human right to develop and contribute our talents whatever our race, sex, religion, ancestry, age. Human rights are indivisible." - Wilma Scott Heide

It is a disruptive time for the school, what with the public holiday for the elections and the holidays next week on Monday and Tuesday. I know that many boys and staff have been battling with flu so hopefully this will be an opportunity for everyone to shake off the symptoms and build up some resistance.

I would like to commend our Music Department for the fantastic combined concert with Rustenburg Girls' and Westerford. The theme of the evening was “A Night at the Movies” and it was a spectacular effort by everyone involved. The sheer number of musicians involved from the 3 schools was remarkable (90 in the orchestra and 285 in the choir!) and I know that the concert took many hours of rehearsal and preparation. Well done!

Please note the change to our calendar. The College Evensong is on Wednesday 17th August at 18:30. This is a compulsory event. On this occasion the Grade 11s are excused. Parents are welcome to attend. The preacher is the Rev Vicentia Kgabe who is the Rector of the College of Transfiguration - the theological training seminary for Anglican clergy in Grahamstown.

With National Women’s Day on Tuesday I thought it appropriate to ask two of our female teachers to give the message to the boys in assembly today. Please see attached the excellent message from Mrs Trudy Hoefnagels and Mrs Bev Kemball.

Yours sincerely
Guy Pearson
