ADMISSION POLICY

Bishops is an Anglican boys English-medium school.

  • In accordance with the school’s Diversity and Transformation policy, preference is given to black applicants
  • Preference is also given to sons of ODs and siblings
  • As an Independent School the ability of parents to pay the fees is a consideration

There are a limited number of scholarships and bursaries which can be applied for.


Registration Procedure:

  1. Complete the online application form.
  2. At the end of the registration process you will be prompted to pay the registration fee via PayFast. Payment options include credit/debit cards, InstantEFT, Snapscan and Zapper.
  3. Please email a copy of your son's birth certificate to admissions@bishops.org.za

Once the registration fee has been paid, you will receive an email letter confirming your son's registration for Bishops.

POINTS OF ADMISSION

GRADE N

We accept boys into Grade N in the year they turn 5. There are 3 classes of 20 boys each. The admission process begins in February aand applicants are invited to the school with their parents for an interview. The boys are observed in social interaction with their parents and spend time at an activities table.

GRADE R

In Grade R there are 3 classes of 24 boys each. This means that there are an additional 12 places available. The same interview process is followed as for Grade N.

Entry into other Grades at the Prep will be subject to vacancies and will follow an interview and will include an assessment.

GRADE 8

In Grade 8 we admit 156 boys; we have 6 general sets of 26 Students each. In addition to our Admission policy mentioned above, admission is based on the boys’ performance in our Entrance Exam together with their final Grade 7 report and a confidential report from their Prep School. Boys not admitted in Grade 8 may be placed on a waiting list and will be interviewed should a vacancy arise.

Boys from Bishops Prep are granted automatic entry but the Principal has the right to refuse entry in certain circumstances such as payment record, disciplinary record and academic performance.

Entry in subsequent grades will be subject to vacancies and will follow an interview.
