Dear College Parents

You will see from the Assembly notices that it has been a quiet week with the Grade 12s and 10s writing exams and the Grade 11s away at their leadership conference. I have also attached Vernon Wood’s talk to the Grade 8s and 9s in Assembly today for your interest.

Over the past few days Greg Brown, Head of the Prep School, and I attended the annual ISASA/SAHISA Conference at Lagoon Beach. It was an excellent conference which dealt with many of the current challenges facing universities and schools. The strong message was that we need to engage and listen to our students, particularly minority groups or those who are not part of the dominant white culture in our schools. We certainly need to be having conversations with our boys in these groups, regarding their experience at Bishops and identify any aspects of our environment which may be alienating to them as individuals or as a group.
