Dear College Parents

"Integrity is doing the right thing, even when no-one is watching" : CS Lewis

As part of our theme this year of encouraging the boys to be sensitive to differences amongst us, we were privileged last Thursday to have Russell Vollmer and Mark Whortley engage with us in Chapel. Russell Vollmer is a South African Paralympian who founded the company Capeable in 2005. He and psychologist Mark Whortley have created specialized training courses aimed at able-bodied people to teach them how to interact with persons with disability. The boys were encouraged to think differently about disability and to think rather of people as “differently abled”. It was a very useful and inspirational presentation which has given us all a better understanding of the issues facing those with disability and how to engage with them. As I have reminded the boys, our lives are enriched by difference and we need to celebrate our diversity and difference.

On Wednesday evening we enjoyed fantastic entertainment from the a capella groups of Bishops and Herschel, Simply Blue and Fusion. It was a truly superb evening and the quality of singing was very special.

I would like to remind parents that although Friday 16th June is a Public Holiday (Youth Day), Friday the 17th June is a normal school day. Please do not arrange a long weekend getaway over that time!

On a sad note, our Chaplain, Father Terry Wilke, has had an ocular stroke. He is currently in hospital and we pray for a full recovery for him.

Attached are today's Assembly notices and my message at assembly.

Yours sincerely
Guy Pearson
