Dear College Parents

I am sure that all of you have been struggling with the sweltering hot weather we have been experiencing in the Cape. The water situation remains dire and we all need to do our bit in saving this precious commodity. While the Cape remains parched the rest of the country is waterlogged - not a ball was bowled at the Independent Schools cricket festival being held at St Albans in Pretoria yesterday!

Bishops hosted a very successful Triangular Athletics Event on Wednesday. Despite the very hot and dry conditions, Donovan Murray turned out an excellent facility at Lutgensvale and we enjoyed a wonderful afternoon of athletics with Rondebosch and SACS. Our athletes performed very well indeed, the highlight being the great win by our U19 4x100 relay team in the last event of the day. My congratulations and thanks go to our TIC of athletics, Burgert Maree, and all the officials and support staff for a superbly organised event.

Our Business Manager, Sean King, has asked me to include this paragraph about security on campus:

Please take note that this year there has unfortunately been a general increase in incidents of theft at Bishops and at most of the schools in our area. With the level of activity on all our campuses you will appreciate that this is a very difficult area to police. Please ensure that you have your new blue (parent) access disks displayed on your windscreen by 1 March 2017. We will be shortening the open gate time and will be stopping all vehicles without disks. In addition we will be randomly asking visitors to Bishops to confirm the purpose of their visit and we will not let people use our facilities without prior approval.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused and ask that you work with us in managing the safety of our boys and assets.

Have a wonderful weekend.
