Dear College Parents

I am sure we all enjoyed the long weekend break which provided some respite from what has been a long and busy first term. In his Chapel message yesterday, Father Terry Wilke gave an excellent talk to the boys about Human Rights Day. I have attached the full message for your interest

Those who were fortunate to attend the school play, “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” will agree that it was a superb production. It was a ‘gritty’ play which would have had a sobering effect on everyone who watched it. The Director, Wayne Tucker, the entire cast and technical crew, and everyone involved in the production are to be congratulated on an outstanding production.

On Wednesday evening the launch of the Epic video, filmed last year, was held in the Memorial Theatre. The evening was also an opportunity to launch a special initiative by Michael Beckurts who produced some very special paintings on the Epic. These paintings have been made into cards and are on sale in the school shop. All proceeds will be going to the Elizabethfontein Primary School, a fantastic gesture from Michael. I have attached the slides of the cards for your interest as well as my message to the boys in assembly today acknowledging his wonderful initiative.

This weekend sees the start of the winter sports season, with several of our rugby teams involved in the Porterville Festival. We wish them well.

On a sad note, we were very sorry to hear that Baraneez Francis, mother of Ubaid Francis (Mallett House Grade 10) passed away over the weekend. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mogamat, Ubaid and their family during this very sad time.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Yours sincerely

Guy Pearson
