Dear College Parents

"Let us be good stewards of the Earth we inherited. All of us have to share the Earth’s fragile ecosystems and precious resources, and each of us has a role to play in preserving them. If we are to go on living together on this earth, we must all be responsible for it" Kofie Annan.

Over the past few weeks our boys have produced some incredible individual and team performances. These are mentioned in the assembly notices but I would like to highlight the following:

  • Our rowers were in top form in the Selbourne and Buffalo Regattas’ winning 5 gold medals, the best performance ever by Bishops rowers at this event.
  • Our 1st XI water polo team won the St Andrews festival beating the hosts 8-7 in the final, the first time in our history that Bishops have won a national water polo tournament.
  • The 1st XI cricket team beat Rondebosch in the semi-final of the T20 knockout and will now play Wynberg in the final of this region.
  • At the Triangular Athletics event our athletes performed very well with the star being Oliver Stewart who broke 2 individual records. Most notably he broke the U15 1500m record by an incredible 11 seconds!
On a different note I was so impressed by the initiative of Boyd Kane and his fellow artists who organised an Art Exhibition last night at the Molteno Library. The work on display by our Bishops artists was excellent.

Research Project

We like to support research for UCT students from time to time. Please find a letter attached from Peter Westwood concerning an up-coming survey on bullying around social media.

We have a busy weekend of sports activities to look forward to, the Western Cape Regatta, Cricket against SACS and water-polo against RBHS.

Please see the attachments for Assembly Notices and my message to the boys today, as well as the term dates for 2017.

Yours sincerely
Guy Pearson
