Deputy Head Sport


Bishops is seeking the services of a dynamic educator to lead and direct a current, comprehensive and diverse sporting programme aligned with the overall strategic objectives, to offer a world class educational experience

The role of sport is an integral part of developing the "gentleman, scholar and athlete" and for providing a platform for participation and recognition of all skill levels.

Reporting to the Principal, the Deputy Head Sport will be expected to provide leadership and oversight of all sporting activities in accordance with the schools ethos and traditions.

Key responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with Council, staff, boys, parents, alumni and colleagues of all levels.
  • Play a major role under the direction of the Principal in formulating the aims and objectives of the School and monitor progress towards their achievement.
  • Provide overall leadership and guidance to boys, staff and parents to provide a positive sporting culture and ensure a safe and inclusive environment.
  • Be an active and valuable member of the College Executive team
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all boys involved in sport
  • Manage sports facilities, equipment and budgets with diligence and care
  • Represent the School appropriately at inter-school fixtures and official engagements
  • Teach a lesser academic load in a chosen field.

Experience and skills required:

  • A proven track record of senior leadership and management within an independent/boys school
  • Proven experience in sports leadership within a school environment
  • A clear understanding of the role of sport in the education and formation of boys
  • A recognized post graduate teaching qualification and SACE registration is essential.

  • An inspirational approach to teaching and learning, with the ability to lead, motivate and develop staff
  • Proven experience in sports leadership within a school environment

  • Ability to build and sustain effective partnerships with staff, boys, parents and the wider community
  • Strong understanding of financial and budget management
  • A recognised teaching qualification and current SACE registration are essential

Pre-Prep Teacher Assistant Bishops


Bishops Pre-Prep is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teacher Assistant to join our team. We are committed to fostering a nurturing, inclusive, and stimulating environment where young learners can thrive.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with class teachers to ensure the smooth functioning of the classroom and grade.
  • Provide assistance with administrative tasks, including preparation of teaching materials, basic record keeping, and communication with learners where appropriate.
  • Assist with the preparation, planning, and delivery of lessons and activities under the guidance of the teacher.
  • Take responsibility for the care and proper use of classroom resources, equipment, and materials.
  • Supervision of sport, cultural, and co-curricular activities.
  • Help maintain positive learner behaviour in line with school values and routines.
  • Contribute to creating a warm, structured, and engaging learning atmosphere that supports the holistic development of children.
  • Be an active participant in the life of the school, supporting teachers and learners both inside and outside the classroom.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills:

  • An ECD NQF Level 6 is required or should be in the process of being obtained by the end of 2026.
  • A minimum of 3 years classroom experience in the Foundation Phase advantageous.
  • A clear criminal record is essential.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and a genuine passion for working with young children.
  • Professional appearance and demeanour
  • Strong understanding of financial and budget management
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute positively to Bishops Pre-Prep.
