Dramatic Arts/English Teacher Grades 8 - 12


We are seeking the services of a dynamic, hardworking and creative individual to commence duties in January 2020 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have an appropriate degree and professional teaching qualification
  • Be able to teach Dramatic Arts from Grade 8-12 and have a sound working knowledge of the national curriculum
  • Have an understanding of the Creative Arts learning area
  • Have theatre-making skills and the ability and commitment to produce and direct productions and be involved the schools’ broad cultural programme
  • Have skills and experience in teaching English (Home Language) at GET level
  • Be able to work effectively as a member of a team dedicated to the development and care of all pupils
  • Be able to contribute to the academic, pastoral and extramural activities of Bishops
  • Have exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Have an understanding of and commitment to transformation
  • Be a South African Citizen and a member of SACE

Marketing and Public Relations Manager


Incredible opportunity for a dynamic, self-starter to take responsibility for Leading and Managing the Marketing, Brand and Public Relations functions of Bishops – reporting directly to the Principal.

Put to the test your proven project management skills; excellent communication skills and in-depth knowledge of Marketing principles; media, PR; strategy and social media. Technical knowledge of relevant legislation and compliance, a must, as is a 3-year relevant degree and a solid, stable career track record. An understanding of the independent school environment would be advantageous.

Key Performance Areas include:

  • Marketing – preparing of long- and short-term plans; developing initiatives and campaigns and arranging marketing events throughout the year. Managing marketing budgets and policies as well as compiling quarterly reports for the School Council.
  • Public Relations – Preparation of appropriate communication for major events and professional management of all PR within the School.
  • Compliance – Ensuring marketing and communication policies comply with applicable governance, legal and statutory requirements.
  • Communication and Relationship Building – manage and report on social media; monitor and assess online and other media sentiment; develop professional relationships with all external service providers.
  • Branding – assume responsibility of all elements of school branding and publications including the school magazine.
  • Project and Event Management – develop and obtain approval for individual project plans and budgets, allocate and manage project resources and execute project roll out.

The successful individual needs to be able to operate at a strategic level but must also be able to execute the above tasks.

Part-time Music Administrator Bishops Prep


The above part time position requires the successful person to work from 08:30 to 13:00.

The role will include, but not be limited to:

Database and Website Management
  • Maintain and update the database of the department
  • Public Relations – Preparation of appropriate communication for major events and professional management of all PR within the School.
  • Keep the music school section of the intranet and website updated (student profiles, staff profiles, ensemble lists, etc.)
  • Ensure that all spreadsheets, forms, term planners, etc. are kept current
Staff Support
  • Engage directly and maintain good relations and communication with teaching staff
  • Provide support to staff in terms of administrative requirements
  • Send out staff reminders about concerts, claim deadlines, etc.
  • Prepare new staff members’ employee packs for HR (includes drawing up staff contracts)
Administration Student/Parent
  • Responsible for all student charges eg. book orders & distribution, reeds & strings charges, instrument hire contract maintenance, etc.
  • Reconciling charge queries relating to end of term accounts
Experience and Skills required
  • Excellent people skills and desire to help
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a varied and busy workload
  • A keen interest in people, a good sense of humour, the confidence to interact people from a range of backgrounds, the willingness to work as part of a diverse team
  • Strong computer skills particularly in MS Word and MS Excel
  • An understanding of accounting systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a high level of attention to detail
  • Knowledge of ABRSM and Trinity College of Music examination procedures would be an advantage but not essential
